No tax for the rich man more fool the poor A nurse begging food for wolves at the door The trains don’t run Cuz they don’t get paid Profits are rising Avoid and evade Avoid and evade It’s hard to keep living When you getting laid off While the government boys Are taking their pay off Health in crisis Can’t take days off Inflation rising Economy take off Avoid and evade No time (To die) Avoid and evade
2.
Unlimited dreams and clean vaccines Everyone’s in but not as it seems And the lemon is bitter and the stories old The taste in your mouth of a world gone cold We have to keep on fighting and the people have to know The cost of living crisis is a government shit show Supermarkets, banks, and the corporate junkyard Pretending that we’re friends, money off with a clubcard And I don’t think they really care I checked my balance and there’s nothing there Nothing in the fridge by stale cold air And we’re all trapped in a tory nightmare I fact checked that but the facts aren’t facts When disinformation is spread by the rats They have the power but we’ve got the guts We are the people, the real diplomats And you gotta keep the fight and the spirit alive We’ll show those bastards how we all survive You can have your soulless fake tan smile We’ve got something more worthwhile

I was drinking with a fella outside the pub And he liked his whiskey neat Told me a story of times gone by When he fought for liberty Now he’s propping up the bar in the wrong end of town And he’s waiting for his time to come There’s a man on his back about the overdue rent And he likes to drink alone Chorus Hey Charlie what you got today That’s for me to know and you to find out I’m saving this one here for a rainy day Hey Charlie Tell us a story Everything he owns is from a bloke in the pub And it’s fallen off the back of a truck New washer / dryer, brand new clothes And he’s even bought a dog Topping up the empties with a deal on the side Taking bets down at the track Got a new tip every night of the week But he’s running out of luck He looked me up and down and then looked straight into my eyes “I’m the product of my mistakes, And I’ll keep them til I die” “When you live as long as me You start to realise Nothing’s perfect in this world But in the end that’s life”

Your call is important We’ll be with you very soon Press 1 for payment Your bill is overdue Customer service The one that got away And if you want a human You’re out of luck today Would you recommend This service to a friend When you’re sitting in the boozer On a binge at the weekend? I don’t think I would Not even sure I could But if you help me out That would be pretty good Please hold the line sir You’re gonna have to hold I’m wrestling with your problem But the robot’s got control Oh no! Not hold music! It’s bloody Greensleeves Your call is important It really means a lot Please don’t be angry You’re coming in red-hot I know it’s not your fault And this job is just a filler I’m really not a bad bloke I’m not a psycho killer But I cannot comprehend The problem here my friend I’ve been waiting here for hours And my wits have reached their end I feel misunderstood I didn’t think I would I was calling up to cancel And I’m leaving you for good Please hold the line sir You’re gonna have to hold I’m wrestling with your problem But the robot’s got control Oh no! Not hold music! Is that Adele!?

Wild Card 01:34
Got your bags packed And guitar on your back Waiting for a sign That your back on track Gotcha life in a box And your joining the dots All by design But your beating the odds Walk away Crippling debt As we slip through the net But it’s still out there Ya think it gives you the edge? No fixed address Heading down the stairs But you’re way out there With a spring in your step! Mever count the money while you’re sitting with the stack Gotta play the game if yer gonna win it back Two of a kind, watching life pass by But the ace up your sleeve is your a wildcard, boy Nothing to lose and somewhere to run Living isn’t healthy but you’re having loads of fun And if luck is a lady she’s the queen of our hearts Table weighs heavy when you’re playing with the dark arts
6.
Other Side 01:18
Officer I’m sorry but am I the one to blame? I know you think we’re different but really we’re the same Well it’s 1 2 3 4 Time to play 5 6 7 are ya comin out today I lost all track Of the aim of the game But I lit the match And watched the flames Agenda here is clear and it’s not for me and you Acceptance may be easy but there’s something we can do Well it’s 1 2 3 4 Time to play 5 6 7 are ya comin out today I lost all track Of the aim of the game But I lit the match And watched the flames When the flames came The ash rained down We burnt it all Down to the ground

Mistakes 03:09
And I made a mistake Pulled the pieces off and tried to put them back again I don’t need a parade Just a little nod to say you tried your best to make it right again And the scars remind us who we were The thoughts we couldn’t quite transfer And I tried to say it’s fine In sentences that’ll make it all alright I think I crossed a line Trying to find a way to make you understand my way of life And the scars remind us who we were The thoughts we couldn’t quite transfer It really got me wondering About mistakes I’ve made along the way I felt I had to answer then But maybe i should listen first and then make up my mind And I made up my mind I’m having second thoughts about the things I said I guess I was angry And we all say things that we regret when the mist descends And the scars remind us who we were The thoughts we couldn’t quite transfer It really got me wondering About mistakes I’ve made along the way I felt I had to answer then But maybe i should listen first and then make up my mind

I had a dream About the sun and the moon In an endless raging battle of evil and good There’s no end in sight As they continue to fight An ongoing saga Of darkness and of light The earth spins around Marking out the time Travelling through the ages In search of new life There’s no end in sight They continue to fight An ongoing saga Of darkness and light (We got) Whiskey flowing Through the day Reminds us all Of sun and rain And the comforts of a life we barely know We travel long Into the night Trying hard Not to fight Searching for a new places to call home The earth’s too hot to live And has nothing left to give We drank all of the water Put poison in the air There’s no end in sight They continue to fight An ongoing saga Of darkness and light I still have a dream About a home away from home Far from all the troubles of the life we left behind There’s no end in sight As they continue to fight An ongoing saga Of darkness and of light (We got) Whiskey flowing Through the day Reminds us all Of sun and rain And the comforts of a life we barely know We travel long Into the night Trying hard Not to fight Searching for a new places to call home

Not My King 01:01
Can't rule me you're not my King

Wings 01:55
The melody of freedom rings And echoes through the night Wings that span across the space The muse prepares to fly YEAH! Just when we break free It always happens, always happens Just when we break free It always happens, always happens to you and me The quiet still of early dawn As the sun begins to rise Clears a pathway through the mist For the notes to claim the skies We listen on with great intent And the music fills the air The heavy wall of silence falls With every note we share YEAH! Just when we break free It always happens, always happens Just when we break free It always happens, always happens To you and me

3pm 02:53
I was looking for a remedy An increment of energy To pull myself out of this place I’d gone I knew there wasn’t anything Well nothing worth remembering A taste of living life with all mod cons It’s 3pm and we’re all done And here we go, another one As if it wasn’t punishment enough A soulless implant of one’s self Set aside, put on the shelf Next time take the money and fucking run And I can’t tell what’s real from fake Now there’s far too much at stake I feel like I am losing my mind I wonder if I’ve made the grade Don’t know if I can take the weight I guess we are all living on overtime It’s 3pm and we’re all done And here we go, another one As if it wasn’t punishment enough A soulless implant of one’s self Set aside, put on the shelf Next time take the money and fucking run It’s time to get this show on the road But sometimes you don’t wanna know Perhaps we’re all just losing sleep And just like that you’re getting old Hoping that the weather holds Before it all gets loose at the seams It’s 3pm and we’re all done And here we go, another one As if it wasn’t punishment enough A soulless implant of one’s self Set aside, put on the shelf Next time take the money and fucking run

I was walking through the streets Of the city by the sea When this very fine young lady Came running up to me She said,“Hey mister, where ya heading? I’m looking for good times!” I said, “Alright pretty lady! Let’s go for a ride” We rattled through the back streets Visiting some bars Talked about the universe The earth, the moon, the stars I didn’t agree with everything But found some common ground The best things in our lives aren’t free But they’re somewhere to be found Oh yeah Oh yeah City by the sea She disappeared into the night I never caught her name And whatever happens after this We’ll never be the same I searched a thousand boozers And the bottom of every barrel Drank away the sorrows Of my dreams as they unravelled Oh yeah Oh yeah City by the sea I wander through the streets Of the city by the sea Hoping that I’ll find the girl Who said hello to me I often thought I’d see her there And catch her with a smile But maybe it’s the mystery That makes it all worthwhile Oh yeah Oh yeah City by the sea

about

After 20+ years working and playing in the independent music scene Mike Five is releasing his first ever solo album!

The Right To Protest is a politically charged pure Punk record that delves into the realm of left-leaning anarchism and fearlessly confronts the political establishment.

With unapologetic tracks that target tax-avoiding politicians, climate change deniers, and even the Royal Family, the album presents a startlingly honest commentary on the state of the world.

However, Mike's musical scope extends beyond politics, as he intertwines stories of everyday life, work, and relationships - mostly shared with him by people in pubs. At it's heart, this is album about experience of being human.
